What is an 'inappropriate post?
To paraphrase from the Registration Rules and Policies Agreement, an inappropriate post is one that transmits any defamatory, abusive, obscene, threatening or illegal material, or any other material that infringes on the ability of others to enjoy Iblogme.com or that infringes on the rights of others.
However, every forum has its own tone and feel, and the moderator has the power to allow more - or less - leeway when he or she deems it appropriate.
How do I alert the Administrator to inappropriate posts?
Anytime you come across a post that you deem inappropriate or questionable, you must Post the Topic to the Administrator via e-mail using the 'Send Topic to a Friend' link on the relevant page.
Administrator e-mail : Admin@ Iblogme.com
As Moderator you have the access to edit a post. Should this be necessary, use the at the top of the post. Spelling errors must not be corrected as this can cause offense to the poster.
The post will then show a message - "Edited by - Your Name on Date, Time"
What if I'm not sure if a Post or Topic should be removed?
When in doubt, post the Topic to the Administrator via e-mail using the 'Send Topic to a Friend' link on the relevant page and let him decide whether or not to take action.
Should the Post or Topic require immediate attention beyond editing, there are several ways to act:
Firstly and most importantly, Copy and Paste the contents of the Post/Topic into an e-mail, include the name/names of the posters and send it to the Administrator.
Then:
Delete the Post - Where editing is not an option.
Lock the Topic - Prevents further replies to the Topic. An appropriate message must be posted prior to locking a topic such as the reason why.
Delete the Topic - Only in exceptional circumstances should this be used
In severe cases, the Administrator may also decide to "Ban" the user's screen name, which prohibits the visitor from logging on with that screen name. It does not, however, stop a visitor from creating a new screen name and logging back on.
What if a Topic is in the wrong Category?
As Moderator you have the access to move the Topic to another forum.
Should this be necessary, use the at the top of the Topic.
An e-mail will be sent to the poster/posters within the Topic informing them that it has been moved and to which location. Again exercise caution before moving a Topic as the poster may have placed it there for a reason.
